Year End Music Picks for 2008

So Here are the 10 Albums that came out this year I enjoyed the most. I know its predictable to put a mega-act like Coldplay at the top of a list, but its my list so I can. The best live show I saw this year (and there were many) was the Hold Steady at the Cat's Cradle on August 12th. Bar rock never sounded so good...

1 Coldplay - Viva La Vida
2 The Hold Steady - Stay Positive
3 Death Cab for Cutie - Narrow Stairs
4 Schooner - Hold on too Tight
5 Frightened Rabbit - Midnight Organ Fight
6 The Helio Sequence - Keep Your Eyes Ahead
7 British Sea Power - Do You Like Rock Music
8 Grand Archives - The Grand Archives
9 Foxboro Hot Tubs - Stop Drop and Roll
10 Far Beyond Frail - A Girl, Almost

Honorable mention: Bon Iver - For Emma, Billy Bragg - Mr. Love and Justice

Hey Holden, just a nit, but that Schooner record from this year was "hold on too tight". YFAYH was the old one.

Cheers,

Ross

Thanks Ross, Christmas brain drain... Fixed title... YFAYH should have been on my last years list.

Christmas brain dead oh yes. I'm not yet but maybe this too will come. No frenzy no hurry here drawing and imaging and figure this even some stenciling in between work. Perfect ten. Actually had to look some of these up as rebuilding a part of music library. Keep on hearing all the time Kid Rock's Summertime in N. Michigan hit piece on car radio, and that's ever so predictable but still can listen to it every time cheers me up. Hey there Delilah by Plain White T's certainly among mine. Just shot to me so true at first listen and the story behind is quite amazing Nice idea. I sent 10 perfect picks late, late yesterday to someone. Nod to honorable mention to Mr. Love and Justice - always has been superfave since I first heard his very early shooting stars. Year end music always great. 2009 will be exceptional.
